last night i am now irreversibly in the middle of toward morning of, Anselm (jesus but he's a cute one) read/said (to effect of)
"I was distant because I distrust my face"

& Craig Goodman's video of Cliff Hengst's fantastic performance "This is a song about you". [title?] Did anyone else catch Anselm's midstream lift from? Does it come from elsewhere? I feel certain he said, as Cliff did on video 15 minutes prior, "You were eighteen when you found out it was true."

He added the line to the poem after he heard it in the video. "Poetry can happen very quickly."

He explained this at the other end of the table post-reading. We were all wondering what the deal was. Bill said it was like he had an acid flashback at when that line repeated. Anselm to Craig Goodman: "Poetry can happen very quickly."

Me too.

Then there was also that line about someone being "George Washington's pony." That gives me a different kind of real happiness.
